Mill Your Own Flour

I want to explain this in a way that anyone can comprehend, so I don’t want to go down to a molecular level that I don’t fully comprehend nor would the average person. I have a very simple outlook; if you take the life out of something, its nature changes rapidly. Grains in the form of seeds are living and when we mill them we get flour that is not living at all. Once the grain is milled the nutrition begins to degrade.  The sooner you use your flour the more nutrition it will hold. There have been many claims floating around the internet that the grain looses 90% of its nutrition in under a week. I don’t believe everything I read on the internet, but if it is anywhere close to that figure we have a problem.

When incorporating grains into your diet whether it be wheat to less common amaranth it is important to consume the whole grain. We consume processed white flour develop health problems and blame the wheat in our food. Meanwhile whole wheat is a super food. The germ and bran stripped from wheat to make white flour is rich in b vitamins, vitamin E, minerals, antioxidants and more. We can all agree refined sugar is bad for human health 55% of refined sugar comes from beets yet no beet free diets going around. The processes we use to prepare our foods for human consumption can be as or more important than the foods we select to eat.
